I am a licensed and nationally certified Speech Language Pathologist who holds a clinical/rehabilitative services credential in the state of Michigan.
I received my bachelor's degree in communication disorders and elementary education in 1998 at Wayne State University in Detroit and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti in 2001. My early work included school based speech therapy, stuttering, apraxia and autism for the Detroit Public School district. However, when my father was diagnosed with cancer my interests changed and I began to focus on rehabilitating adults to swallow and communicate in addition to learning more about a myriad of neurological disorders and effects on the brain, speech and swallow function.
I have found joy in working in multiple medical settings including hospital, skilled nursing facility and home health care focusing on diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to stroke, traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson's, Dementia, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Bell's Palsy, cancer of the head and neck. I spent 12 years working at Sinai -Grace Hospital Detroit Medical Center assessing and treating voice, swallowing disorders, dysarthria, aphasia and cognitive retraining. Moreover I am grateful for the opportunity of coordinating and facilitating an in-patient and community based stroke survivor/caregiver support groups.
Lastly, I have recently had the pleasure of working with clients in the corporate sector focusing on public speaking and voice training .
I feel blessed to have so much experience under my belt and that you have chosen to visit my site to explore your options!
Please reach out if you have further questions about speech pathology services . I look forward to speaking with you and lending support towards recovery for yourself or a loved one.
Sincerely,
